You are bidding on 6 Lemon Cuckoo Orpington chicks (2-4 weeks old)
About the bird: The lemon cuckoo color in large fowl was created by bob follows. The cocks show either double bar factor of the barring gene or a darker golden lemon evenly barred with white. The hens are always the same coloring of light lemon and white. These birds are amazingly friendly. This variety loves people and are quite appropriate for families with children of all ages. They are a good dual purpose bird, being dependable egg layers and meaty broilers. The eggs are large and cream colored.
About the science of barring: The sex of any chick is determined by the hen. The cock carries two Z chromosomes (ZZ) The hen carries one Z chromosome and one W (ZW). The cock must pass on a Z chromosome while the hen passes either a Z or a W. Sex linked genes such as chocolate, silver, barring, etc. will be carried on the male chromosome.
