I am a bird lady. There it is...up front and waving like a bright, yellow flag.
I was first introduced to owning chickens when my husband and I both got back from Afghanistan. Like most new chicken people, I figured I really wouldn't care for the chickens. Well, I was wrong. It's four years later and I am obsessed with my birds.
I love raising poultry! I'm not a breeder for profit although I would love to be at some point. Instead, I like to give the birds to people who could use a source of food (eggs, meat, etc.). The greatest joys are watching the eggs hatch that you've cared for during those 21 to 30 (depending on the bird) days of temperature and moisture juggling. Six months later, everywhere you walk there is a flock of birds following. As I venture into raising the rare breeds, I plan on using them to show the beauty that the poultry world has to offer.
To the sellers who are checking out my profile, there's definitely not a need to worry. I'm "that person" who constantly gets into trouble because I keep my chicks in the house too long. My husband wants them out of the house whereas I start debating on trying to house train them.
Feel free to find me on Facebook under Candace Rossi Reppond and meet my Umbrella Cockatoo, Rocco. |
