RareBreedAuctions.com is dedicated to preserving America’s rare and heritage breeds of poultry and livestock. We believe that the best way to save these breeds is to create a market for these animals where buyers and sellers can meet and bargain in a fair and professional environment facilitated by state-of-the-art technology. RareBreedAuctions.com is committed to providing that opportunity to you, the buyer or seller of rare breeds.

Other auction sites created by livestock experts have failed the test of time due to a lack of technical proficiency and poor customer service. At RareBreedAuctions.com, we specialize in raising livestock, but we also make our living in developing and maintaining customer relationships through online communication.

We are committed to building a strong and ethical community that allows members to sell and bid with confidence. We pledge to be responsive, helpful and friendly to our members and guests, and we encourage you to tell us about your experiences so that we can continuously improve our service.

We welcome you to our community and look forward to meeting your needs.

See comments for the White call duck hen or the LF Barred Rock Pullet. Same story for both. Bad business. I hate leaving negative feedback worse than stepping into a bed of red ants. But, the out come is the same. Getting stung is not fun. G

I purchased this duck out of sympathy for the seller. A lot of people don't know how to breed ducks and that hatching time is especially difficult. At first it was too hot to ship, then there were health problems, then more family issues. I'm a patient man and I care about my fellow humans. But months have passed and not a word from these people. I've emailed them several times. At this point I would say they stole the money and kept the birds. I would happily retract these remarks and make it all good if they would just ship the birds or refund my money, I bought a duck and a pullet. both for fifty dollars and shipping over two hundred dollars total. Buyer beware. I don't think they care about their reputations and they certainly don't care about how they treat customers. GG

Excellent transaction. Great communication, excellent packing and shipping. Honest seller and he added a couple of extras. Thanks for the best transaction on Rare Breed so far. Hope to do business again. Sincerely, G

Old, thin shelled, spotty eggs. If out of twenty plus eggs, only two or three hatch, you know the incubator didn't fail, you know the eggs were bad. I've saved eggs for ten days then incubated them and had a good 90% hatch. Unless there was a power outage, in fifty years of poultry husbandry, I've never had a hatch failure on this level.... you can make all the exemptions you want in your listing, if you send dead eggs, none of that makes it moral or the right way to handle the situation. Buyer beware. The only reason I left no stars is because there wasn't the option to do so. This one is a bad egg.

RBA Member Code of Conduct

Updated: May 28, 2015
This website is a service intended to benefit our country's livestock and the people who raise it. In order for this community to thrive and achieve our mission, its necessary that all registered members adhere to a Code of Conduct that ensures fair trade. By registering as a member you agree to abide by our Code of Conduct, and any violations of the Code of Conduct will result in being banned from this site and such other legal action as may be required. The Code of Conduct is as follows:

  1. A person may not create multiple accounts.
  2. A seller may not bid on his or her own auction and may not coordinate with family and friends to do so.
  3. A winning bid creates a legally binding contact, and winning bidders are required to pay the seller. If you have questions about an animal being auctioned the time to ask those questions is well before the close of the auction. Doubts, unanswered questions, second-guessing, an unanticipated or sudden change in personal circumstances, or buyer's remorse are not valid reasons for a winning bidder to refuse to pay after an auction closes.
  4. Read the text of the auction carefully before you bid. Once you bid your bid cannot be undone. Your bid is a legally binding offer to the seller, and if you are the high bidder your offer is automatically accepted and becomes a legally binding contract under which you are obligated to pay the seller.
  5. Sellers may not use other people's photos, breed descriptions, or trade names without their express written permission. Copyright violations are not allowed.
  6. Sellers must accurately describe the animal they are selling including the pedigree of the animal.
  7. When giving feedback a person must accurately describe the facts that support the feedback rating.
  8. In order to be valid, feedback must be posted by sellers within seven days after payment is due and for buyers within seven days after the birds or eggs are shipped.
  9. A person may not send profane or harassing messages about an auction.
  10. A seller advertising imported poultry must be prepared to provide a copy of the USDA import permit proving the legal importation of the poultry. Only legally imported poultry may be sold at auction.
  11. A seller or buyer may not use an auction or RBA-related tools to negotiate direct sales outside of an auction. This includes asking buyers to "gift" money via PayPal.
  12. A seller may not pre-sell hatching eggs or day-old chicks with a shipment date more than four weeks after the auction ends.
  13. This is a community. Be POLITE and courteous. If you are rude, you may be asked to leave.
  14. A seller will comply with all relevant government regulations including those related to the shipping of live birds and NPIP compliance.

Thank you for participating in our community. Happy selling and bidding! If you have questions, comments or concerns, please email the store manager.
